A Note from the Front Office
If anything has changed with your plans, please let us know as soon as possible.
The Student/Parent Handbook is now available on the school's website. Please make sure you start reading through it. We will be sending home the signature form for the parent/guardian and student to sign that indicates you read the handbook. There are a couple of changes to be aware of:
- The only hoodies/sweatshirts allowed will be solid color or Lakes and Bridges; no other sweatshirts will be allowed (college, high school, quotes, verbiage, patterned, etc.);
- Any outstanding balance for lunches (any invoice not paid by the 20th of the month), the student will be required to bring a lunch from home. Because we receive no money to offset the cost of lunches, any unpaid balance comes out of our operating budget, which prevents the school from getting the necessary items for students and teachers.
New Faculty
We are excited to introduce our new faculty (please look for more details about each teacher on the school's Facebook page). Welcome to the LABCS Family/Community!

- Kimberly Morris - MS 6th and 7th Grade ELA

School Supply List
The School Supply List is available on the website. We wanted to get this out to you as soon as possible so that you can take advantage of back-to-school sales.
2023-2024 School Calendar
Please make sure that you print the 2023-2024 School Calendar that has been on the school's website if you have not done so already so that you can put the first and last days of school on your personal calendar, as well as all holidays and long weekends so that trips can be planned around these days off if at all possible.
Please note that Meet the Teacher is Friday, August 4 (see below) and the First Day of School is Monday, August 7.
Summer Reading Project for Returning Students in Rising 6th-8th Grades
All returning rising 6th-8th grade students are required to do a Summer Reading Project on a book of their choice they read this summer. These are due upon return to school. It is imperative that the sizes given for the different projects are adhered to so that it does not negatively impact their grade in the MS ELA class. This information can be found on our website or by clicking the link given.
Meet the Teacher - August 4
The times for Meet the Teachers are listed below. This is a drop-in, so you can show up anytime between the scheduled hours. If you have not done so by that date, please be ready to pay Student Supply fees ($50/student), as well as Technology fees ($25/student). You can also bring the supplies you had to purchase during this time as well. We will also have LABCS "swag" available for purchase during that time. The uniform closet will be open during these times if you want to look for anything for your child. These clothes are available at no cost for you to take what you need.
- Grades 1-5 - 9:00-11:00 am
- Grades 6-8 - 12:00-2:00 pm
Phase IV Renovations
Renovations have begun on Phase IV, which is converting most of the Dragon's Dungeon into 4 intervention offices and a smaller multi-purpose room. We are excited about this; however, it will not be completed before the school year begins but should have a minimal if any impact on the running of the school while it finishes up. We anticipate that this phase will be completed by the end of the 1st quarter. We will keep you updated on the progress of it.
